Welcome to my Dark Chambers!
[I] am Blackwolf the Dragonmaster, Master Mage
and Sorcerer in the Service of Her Majesty, Queen Margaret of Scotland
and the Isles; Duke of Talisker (in the vast plains and reaches of Scotland)
--- and keeper of this delightful (and quite family-friendly) little
hovel. For those of you who were wondering, a Mage is often known, in
the language spoken by you Mortals, as a Wizard. (In my particular case,
it so happens that I am New York City's first and only Unofficial
Wizard --- even though not too many folks are really aware of
that.)
But enough random acts of long-winded commentary!
'Tis me very pleasant duty now to greet all of you who have come hither,
on behalf of all truth-seeking Mages, and in the name of all Lovers
of the Imagination everywhere! Huzzah!
I must tell you, my friends, that I am, quite
frankly, as surprised as you are that I even have a homepage!
Believe me, when you have spent a lifetime, as I have, studying and
exploring the fine art of Magecraft, chances are that the lessons you
tend to learn over the aeons wind up working all sorts of wonders for
your soul. (Heh-heh!) Nonetheless, it took a great deal of effort and
diligence to put me where I am today (Huzzah! again); and, naturally,
I seek within these Dark Chambers to share with you a little bit of
my life, deeds, and legend --- and, indeed, the wonders of the Celebration
of Life!
We'll get started with Blackwolf's Dossier,
wherein you shall discover the full story of my days before, during
and beyond my Magehood, including the chronicle of the gathering staged
by my seven wizardly bosses, the Grand High
Istari, nearly five years ago, during which I was granted the rank
and privileges of Dragonmaster. (In my off-hours, by the way, I'm Internet
correspondent/analyst for the Ink Blot Newsletter, published
by the Fellowship of the Black Spot, West Allis, Wisconsin, USA. Click
hither, that ye might know more!)
And here be what else ye might find within these
Dark Chambers:
First, find out Why New York Needs
Wizards, in the exclusive transcript of my "Anything Goes!" radio
commentary, which originally aired on September 4th, 2001, over WNYE-FM
91.5.
Then, you can explore the universe of me Mistress,
the aforemention'd Queen Margaret of
Scotland and the Isles, and learn as well how the two of us became
friends!
Relive three of my really best segments of this
site in my all-new Classic Blackwolf
segment!
Visit my two favorite Renaissance Festivals ---
those in the Realms of Sterling Forest and Fort Tryon, within the Shires
of New York State and Northern Manhattan, respectively --- in Blackwolf's Home
Faires.
And, of course, Blackwolf's Links
are ready to take thee to wherever the power of Magecraft and the experience
of attending a Renaissance Faire may be properly shared! (Which is especially
good, now that there are three pages worth of my Links!) Huzzah!
And What's New in
the Dark Chambers? Well, that particular segment remains under construction
--- for now, anyway, so do bear with me! I'm doing my level best to
keep the place fresh and new, if at all possible! Pray, stay ye tun'd!
In Blackwolf's
Rules for Adventurers, I shall share with thee a few of the things
thou must knowest, shouldst thou seek a Quest of thine own.
A
Wizard @ War, my most recent commentary, explores what we Magic-users
can do to aid those who desire our imagination, especially since the
September 11th disasters and such.
Then, in another, still-being-constructed segment,
I shall open the secret Diary of the Lord of Rules and Discipline, and
reveal unto you the tale of how he didst reign o'er a short-lived television
adventure called Knights &
Warriors, where only the boldest among men and women would be
chosen to vie for that elusive honor of Knighthood!
And if you wish, you can peek in at my Archives to
see past segments that I have deemed suitable for what you Mortals call
'future reference.' The encyclopaedia thing and all that, you know.
Then, you can even meet up with a few of my favorite
Faire acquaintances, and have a peek at some of the photos that they
sent me via e-mail, in yet another special section, the Gallery of Faire
Friends!
In How to Hire a
Dragonmaster, I shall list for your preferences the kinds of skills
for which I am available! Also, if you wish to help get my historic
documentary project about me wizardly self, to be titled Blackwolf the
Dragonmaster's First Movie, off the ground --- well, we've got a
segment hither for that, too!
Blackwolf's
Webrings will introduce ye to a few of the fellow Knights and Warriors
with whom I have come to be associated of late! Huzzah! yet again!
On November 12th, 2001 (Mortal-reckoning), we
lost someone who was most precious to the Faire Community indeed. Bill Huttel
was he, and for 13 delightful seasons, the Maryland Renaissance Festival
was his to rule! Hither, then, do I share mine own special tribute.
In my Special Features
segment, you can explore even more of the topics I reveal hither in
this very Introduction! Huzzah!
And lastly, there is my Royal Census,
where the Kings, Queens and other assorted Nobility from Renaissance
Faires and Festivals all across America have their chance to
speak up about what they believe matters to them!
Well, my goodly gentle friends, there you are.
Our introductions now are ended; and so, thou art humbly invited to
follow my relentless magical pursuit of all things wise and wonderful,
and all the rest of that silly stuff. Ready? Very well, let us begin!
And we begin with an important message:
These Dark Chambers join our Internet Radio
colleagues in protesting the possibly imminent death of the Internet
Radio Industry. Accordingly, we are supporting the Day of Silence
campaign to call attention to the cause. Our friends at RenRadio and
at various other Internet Radio sites will not broadcast for the duration
of the protest. For more information, please click this site banner.
Now for some recent news updates:
Please join me, fellow Mages, in welcoming
a new website --- and its maintainer --- to our realm of the Aether.
His name is Jonathan (Animal) Zuchowski, and he haileth from the faire
shire of Ogden, in the Osmond Empire --- Utah, to you Mundaners. Please
click hither to explore
the beastly domain of the Animal! Welcome, new friend and fellow Magic-user!
Huzzah!
Barbara "Baj" Businski, best known as the
beautiful Queen Katherine at Carver, Mass.' beloved King
Richard's Faire, has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Some
of my fellow Rennies may already be aware of this; however, this is
also a good time to encourage those of you with proper ties to the
Realms of Faire to support the cancer charity closest to your local
Faire. In your Dragonmaster's case, that charity would be Gilda's
Clubs Worldwide, the cancer organization created in memory of
Saturday Night Live founding alumnus Gilda Radner; and which
was so valiantly supported by those record-shattering Massed Pipes
and Drums during the recent Tunes of Glory Parade in Manhattan! Huzzah!
In the meantime, if there be further news regarding Lady Baj's condition,
such information will be posted hither!
Tony DiTerlizzi, Knight Champion of the Imagination,
hath finished his third children's book, an adaptation of the popular
poem about The Spider and the Fly! It won't be out in bookstores
until September, but you can sneak a peek on Tony's homepage
(and you WILL bow down before Tony's all-knowing pugdog, Goblin, whose
word is law!).
Meanwhile, even as Harry
Potter and the Chamber of Secretsreaches the halfway mark of its
year-long journey towards its November 15th release date, there are
still some cool adventures for those seeking to head to Hogwarts via
Platform 9 3/4; and accordingly, they're all featured in my Hogwarts
links segment! The new Potter movie will again feature the
wizardry of Industrial Light & Magic, Rhythm & Hues, Sony
Pictures Imageworks --- and much, much more! The Warner Bros./1492/Heyday
Picture will doubtless be packed anew with even more incredibly magical
surprises than last time! As for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's
Stone, it has now surpasssed The Phantom Menace as the
second highest-grossing movie EVER! And more, the VHS and DVD ---
containing 10 minutes of never-before-seen footage, a virtual tour
of our favorite School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, behind-the-scenes
interviews with Chris Columbus and David Heyman, and much much more!
--- will premiere on May 28th --- less than 25 days from hence! But
before our Hogwarts colleagues hit the realm of homevideo, Lucasfilm's
Star Wars, Episode II --- Attack
of the Clones counts down to its own day of reckoning, on
May 16th! (Special note to our younger apprentices out thither: Ye
may wish to click hither to explore
the Skywalkers' Family Album!)
Here be some words for those of ye who
have befriended my beloved Mistress, Her Majesty, Margaret, Queen
of Scotland and the Isles!
Her Majesty is quite the champion when it
comes to creating homepages for the Royals of Scarborough
Faire! Huzzah! Her most recent such page introduces ye to the
Magnificent Six (in addition to Her Majesty of Scotland, the Six are:
King Henry VIII and Queen Anne Boleyn; Sir Edward Seymour, Duke of
Somerset; Lady Monica Murray, Viscountess of Roxburghe, Baroness of
Strange; and Crown Prince Friedrich Hapnick of Carpania)! Click ye
hither,
that ye may discover all for thyselves! Huzzah!
Then, there's this from Thor the Barbarian!
Having joined Thor's motley crew of adventurers as his Mage and Emissary,
that I might share with them several of my most favorite tales of
adventuring and questing, 'tis me very pleasant duty to inform ye
that we're back on the Manhattan Neighborhood
Network, where you can check us out on alternating Sunday nights
at 11:30 pm EST! And, as in the past, we offer our fans comedic bits,
Thor's mantric musings, my own unique segments, on-the-scene interviews
from the Tri-State Region's best comic book and sci-fi/fantasy events
--- plus, a chance for you to win an official Beginner's Set of Monty
Python and the Holy Grail Trading Cards from Kenzer & Co., courtesy The Compleat Strategist!
From now on, these Dark Chambers will host Blackwolf's
Bonus Link of the Month! Here's how it works: Each month, I'll look
in my links for new sites (and old) that have improved themselves
since I first linked up to them. At the end of the year, when I have
chosen all 12 sites, one for each month, I shall give YOU the chance
to vote for the page that you think deserves to be bestowed with the
honour of being named as Blackwolf's Bonus Link of the Year!
Huzzah! Click ye hither, that
ye might discover all for thyselves!
And this month's Bonus Link is:
He has been legendary for his performances at
Bristol, both with his friends, the Minstrels
of Mayhem, and as a solo act --- and now, Master Craig shares his
own unique world and even more of his extraordinarily special musical
stylings on his very own homepage! Huzzah!
He is, quite simply, the most powerful Mage
in Hollywood. So powerful is he, in fact, that even your Dragonmaster
must yield unto him. He is Harry Knowles, and his Ain't It Cool News is among the giants
of cyberspace. Fellow Mages: Bow down and worship this Lord of the
Cinematic Dance!
